The past few weeks I’ve been deep in the heart of New Orleans - not passed out on a Bourbon Street sidewalk (hic), but building Rhapsody’s just-launched Mardi Gras channel. While tapping my toes to brass bands, Crescent City keys and traditional Cajun & Zydeco, I’ve re-discovered the non-harmonizing wonder duo of Shirley & Lee amidst the pile of great classic New Orleans R&B. Check out Miss Shirley Mae Goodman’s sweet quaver on their 1956 hit “C’mon Baby Let the Good Times Roll.” A resolution-busting reminder that the good times of Mardi Gras are less than a month away (Feb. 20).

Rhapsody has a really cool web services program for website developers, blog owner’s. They provide you with all sorts of code to play music from rhapsody on your site for free. If you have a music blog and want to link to a track all you do is place their code onto your site where you want the track displayed.
For example:

Brings up James Blunt’s song, you’re beautiful. The system has many features, one of which brings up an in-site player. Check it out at http://webservices.rhapsody.com

May be old news to some. According to UK artist Kele Le Roc’s blog from her MySpace page, Justin Timberlake took her chorus from a song of hers titled “My Love (Garage 10 Below Mix)” that she recorded years ago. In light of that Kele decided to do her own remix of Justin’s “My Love” and she kept the exact same chorus she had on her original song of the same title so people can hear the similarities. Some of her fans advised her to sue him. For the moment she encourages people to download the song and add it to their profiles to spread the word. You be the judge. Thanks to Zoa.
